The Search for Identity: An Anthropological Interpretation of Engaged Research in Paštrovići and the Use of the Concept of Intangible Cultural Heritage for Identity Political Purposes

Paštrovići is the name of a clan and an ethnographic area Montenegrin coast stretching from Čanj to Bečići Adriatic Sea Crmnica. I visited this region twice, in 2017 2018, as part Etno Lab project, directed by Bauo Society for Cultural Development town Petrovac Sea, with funds other forms assistance provided Municipality Budva, Ministry Culture Montenegro, several local families. The purpose stay was engaged field research aim exploring "traditions" cultural heritage Paštrovići, intention mapping potential elements inscription on list intangible heritage. In paper, start hypothesis that organization Lab, directing and, finally, search identity markers view having them recognized important inscribed relevant lists national state, are precisely form reflection socio-political turmoil which primarily occurring at political level nation state Montenegro then spilling over into social reality, where it assumes various forms.
